STOP FORECLOSURE

PROTECT YOUR HOME

For most people their home is their most valuable asset, both in financial and emotional terms. In many cases, home foreclosure is a disaster to be avoided if at all possible.  At the Law Office of Stephen H. Swift, P.C., we help out clients stop foreclosure and get debt relief through the bankruptcy process. We help hard-working people get debt relief and the opportunity to move forward in their lives once again.

HOW TO STOP FORECLOSURE

Filing for bankruptcy can stop the foreclosure process at any time up to the foreclosure sale date. As with most legal matters however, sooner is always better. If you have had trouble keeping current on your mortgage or are behind in your mortgage payments now, you should seek the advice of a bankruptcy lawyer. By waiting, you are only delaying the day when you will have to face the possibility of foreclosure.  An attorney at our firm can review your situation and recommend the right solution for you. By filing a Chapter 13 bankruptcy or Chapter 7 bankruptcy,  you can stop foreclosure immediately and get debt relief.

Keeping Your Home

Some people have the misconception that to save their house, they need to be current on their mortgage payments at the time of the bankruptcy filing. This is not true. A Colorado Chapter 13 Bankruptcy allows you to fold your past due mortgage payments into your payment plan. You can pay off your past due payments over a three to five year period rather than immediately. And by eliminating or reducing your unsecured debts through bankruptcy, you can free up additional cash flow that makes it much easier to cover your monthly payments.

Even with a Colorado Chapter 7 Bankruptcy, you may be able to keep your home. At the least, you can delay the loss of your home for awhile, which can give you the time you need to find another place to live.
